Rocks are one of my favourite subjects to draw.
I’m not really sure why. I think partly it’s because I really enjoy the process of ‘carving’ the shapes of the rock out of the paper with light and shadow. The hatching involved feels kind of meditative and often helps me to feel calm after a stressful day.
This was a digital drawing on the iPad, using Procreate and a single ‘fineliner’ brush.
